£323 MILLION spent on converting schools to academies

“There have been 4,897 academy conversions during the current and preceding five financial years,” according to education minister Edward Timpson.

“During the same period, the department has spent £323 million to support schools to become academies.”

The figures were set out in a parliamentary written answer in response to  question from Birmingham Labour MP Jess Phillips and come as the government pushes to turn all English schools into academies.
